CARNET ATA
WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
It allows to temporary export goods, commercial samples and professional equipment to non-EU countries that are signatories to the ATA convention, on the occasion of trade fairs, exhibitions, etc., avoiding having to pay customs duties. The ATA acronym comes from the French and English words:
Admission Temporaire – Temporary Admission.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED AND WHERE TO SUBMIT IT
In Italy, the ATA carnet is issued by the competent Chamber of Commerce upon submittal of the relevant application form (to be signed by the legally-authorised representative of the applicant company), together with the surety bond to be issued by Generali Italia S.p.A. following payment into the specific postal current account in the name of Generali Italia S.p.A..
All the necessary documentation is provided by the Chamber of Commerce.
The ATA carnet is valid for 12 months from issue and once it has been used up it must be returned to the competent Chamber of Commerce.
